VIDEO: Indian Coast Guard Continues Operation As Fire Persists Onboard Maersk Frankfurt Vessel

New Delhi: A fire broke out onboard the container vessel Maersk Frankfurt just off the coast of India. The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) responded and initiated firefighting operations. A man from the Philippines reportedly died in the fire.The fire broke out on the container vessel MV Maersk Frankfurt near Karwar region of Karnataka on Friday. The crew included Filipino, Montenegrin, and Ukrainian nations and was enroute to Colombo, Sri Lanka from Mundra port. The ship was reportedly carrying International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG).One person, a sea man who hailed from the Philippines, died in the fire, the report said.Aside from the ships, a helicopter has also been sent from Kochi for evacuation. A Dornier vessel and an Emergency Towing Vessel (ETV) have been sent from Mumbai for assistance, the report said.Firefighting efforts are currently underway.
