Ventura Man Charged with Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material Pleads Not Guilty
A Ventura man is facing felony charges for possession of child sexual abuse material after his laptop, turned in for repair, led to the discovery of illicit content. Matthew Glenn Longwill, 50, entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment, as reported by the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.
Following an investigation by the Ventura Police Department that began when a computer store reported suspicious material, Longwill was arrested on August 5, 2024, and the search of his home led to further alleged CSAM findings on additional devices, the details of this case were shared in a press release by the DA's office.
Special Prosecutions Fraud and Technology Crimes Unit Senior Deputy District Attorney Marc Leventhal is responsible for prosecuting the case against Longwill, whose bail is set at $50,000. As a condition of his release, he is not permitted to have any contact with minors.
Looking ahead, Longwill's schedule requires him to reappear in court for an early disposition conference on September 26, 2024, this 1:30 P.M. Session will be held in courtroom 11 of the Ventura County Superior Court. An update on the proceedings is anticipated following this next court appearance, as Longwill continues to face the charge of possession or control of child sexual abuse material defined under PC 311.11(a).
