2026 QB Anthony Coellner has a few schools catching his eye early in the process

Carmel (Ind.) High 2026 quarterback Anthony Coellner had a lot of eyes on him this past Thursday morning. College coaches were flocking to the Indianapolis area for workouts specifically designed to accommodate them making the rounds around town in an organized fashion.
Coellner was a must-see for a lot of programs.
Indiana, Michigan State and West Virginia particularly spent a lot of time watching the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Coellner, and he has high interest in all three programs as well.
The Hoosiers have offered Coellner. He visited twice during the spring and will get back to camp in June.
“IU being close to home obviously it’s a great school,” Coellner said. “I feel like those coaches they really care about me, they spend a lot of time with me. They want to get me back out to camp this summer probably around June 14. I feel like I have a good relationship with them so far and I want to keep building it.”
Indiana offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan was one of the Hoosiers coaches that made it to Carmel and Coellner likes him, quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri and head coach Curt Cignetti and what they’re trying to do in Bloomington.
“I feel like everyone is really bought in on coach and the culture is completely flipped from last year,” Coellner said. “Going to a spring practice and spring game visit you can see the culture is completely flipped. The kids love (Cignetti) and are completely locked in.”
West Virginia is an early front-runner for Coellner. He’s been to Morgantown and quarterbacks coach Tyler Allen and tight ends coach Blaine Stewart returned the favor coming to see him.
“The Neal Brown era I love him,” Coellner said of the WVU head coach. “He’s a great guy. I’ve gotten a couple chances to sit down with him. He’s one of my favorite coaches I’ve talked to so far. Over there they’re having fun while practicing well at the same time.”
Coellner sees himself thriving under center for the Mountaineers.
“I feel like their offense really catches my eye and fits my scheme as a player and how I play,” Coellner said. “I feel like they get the ball to their playmakers while setting up play-action and gettin you pro ready. They do a great job developing you as a player.
“In the film room I got to sit down with Coach Allen and he went into detail about how to break down coverages and what reads to make.”
As a sophomore Coellner completed 101 of 180 pass attempts for 937 yards and eight touchdowns with another 298 yards rushing and two more scores playing in the Hoosier State’s largest class.
Michigan State had offensive coordinator Brian Lindgren and area recruiter/defensive line coach Chad Wilt on-hand. The Coellner family had a great visit in the spring.
Besides Indiana, Michigan State and WVU, Coellner has also took spring visits to USC, UCLA, Cincinnati, Toledo and Miami (Ohio).
“Cincinnati has done a great job,” Coellner said of another program catching his eye.
