'Dangerous Heat' To Bake MD: Latest Weather Forecast
MARYLAND — A heat advisory has been issued Sunday for much of Maryland, a day after a record high temperature was set at Baltimore-Washington International Airport. The National Weather Service said the combination of actual temperatures climbing close to 100 degrees, plus humidity, poses a danger to people and pets outdoors. On Saturday, the record at BWI was set when the thermometer hit 101 degrees, which broke the daily high temperature record of 100 degrees set in 1988, the NWS aid. This is also the first time it has hit 100 degrees in June since 2012."Highs (Sunday) will push toward 100 degrees in the Baltimore/DC metros with mid to upper 90s elsewhere across the region. Heat indices will run 100-108 degrees," the NWS said Sunday morning. "Isolated to scattered thunderstorms arrive later this afternoon (after 3pm ) and into the evening hours."The heat advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday, with heat index values up to 107 expected — that's the temperature it will feel like outside. The advisory includes parts of central, north central, northeast, northern and southern Maryland, the District of Columbia and central, northern and northwest Virginia.Communities included in the advisory are: Carroll, Baltimore, Cecil, Prince George's, Anne Arundel, Charles, St. Marys, Calvert, Montgomery, Howard, and Harford counties.
