How to Defeat Carlito in Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster
The Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is finally here, and whether you’re a newcomer to this series or a long-time fan, everyone can relate to the Carlito struggle.
The main antagonist of the game, you’ll have to fight him several times throughout, with him getting strong each time. Capcom hasn’t made it any easier to overpower him with every rematch in this remaster.
This deranged psychopath brings firearms and explosives to the fight, making it possible for him to completely melt you before you’ve even had a chance to blink an eye. Not to worry, as this guide will cover everything you need to know about each Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster Carlito boss fight.

There are three encounters with Carlito in this game, with the last not being a direct fight with him like the previous two.
Case 1-2: Backup for Brad
You can go the melee route, but attacking from a distance is safer. | Credit: deathmule YouTube
Recommended Weapons: Sledgehammer, Katana
The first time you’ll face off against Carlito is in the Food Court during Case 1-2. The cutscene that starts the encounter triggers after you enter the area. You’ll notice he has the high ground, firing at you from the rooftops of the surrounding stores.
Ideally, you’ll want to get behind him and shoot through the windows where he’s standing, giving you a clear shot without taking too much heat.

For a more aggressive (and slightly risky) approach, you can try to get up closer and go in with a melee weapon. Take cover when he fires and start approaching him when he’s reloading. Rushing in and taking damage will only make things harder for you.
While going for the melee strategy is faster, he’s got plenty of ways to hurt you up close. Depending on how many restorative items you have, your weapon, and your health pool, choose what works for you. After you ‘defeat’ him, he’ll quickly make his escape and end the encounter.
Case 2-2: Rescue the Professor

Recommended Weapons: Any gun, Hockey Stick, Small Chainsaw
Round two of the fight starts after you reach the Entrance Plaza during Case 2-2. This time, Carlito snipes at you from a distance in the Entrance Plaza.
Guns are going to be your best friend here. We recommend you chip away at his health from afar with whatever firearm you have instead of trying to get up close immediately.
Once you get him running, you can flank him by going up the plaza stairs. Keep the pressure on with your weapon: you can even switch to a melee weapon like the Small Chainsaw or Hockey Stick. Stay patient and don’t overextend, as Carlito will be pinned between you and Brad, making this an easier fight.
Case 7-2: Bomb Collector

Recommended Weapons: Sledgehammer, Machete, Laser Sword
You have quite some time till you have to fight Carlito again. Try to pick up some of the weapons on this list of the best Dead Rising weapons in the meantime. It’ll make your time in the game much easier.
He’ll be back for a third time in Case 7-2, but this time, he’s behind the wheel of a truck, trying to run you over in the underground parking lot. Your goal isn’t to ‘kill him,’ but to grab and dispose of the bombs scattered around before they detonate.

The strategy here is to prioritize disarming the bombs while damaging Carlito when his truck stops. He’ll be throwing grenades at you during this time, and sometimes they feel impossible to dodge, so make sure to carry plenty of restorative items with you before this encounter.
When you deplete his health bar entirely, he’ll get out of the truck. If you haven’t already, find the remaining time bombs and get out of the underground parking lot tunnel as fast as possible, which will end the encounter.
With that, you’ll have defeated Carlito! That’s the last encounter you’ll have with this Psychopath enemy.
