The 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris begins in about a month. Those fortunate enough to be in Paris may dine on ratatouille or salad Niçoise; here in the States, we’ll probably chow down on the usual dishes we enjoy while watching sporting events—tailgate foods. We’ll also enjoy limited-time Olympic or USA-themed treats such as Reese’s Medals or Hershey’s White Creme with Sprinkles and Popping Candy.Reese’s isn’t the only brand with bronze, silver, and gold on its mind. Red Robin, the casual chain restaurant known for its burgers, is getting in on the Olympic action with a new menu item—and a drink to go with it—made for Olympic-level eating. You have to see both to believe them.Red Robin’s New Gold Medal Burger
Red Robin
Red Robin is offering a Gold Medal Burger, which is made with three beef patties, three layers of American cheese, relish, mayo, pickles, onion, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun. It’s the restaurant’s biggest-ever burger. It’s so big those who win at eating it—meaning they finish the whole thing—get a chance to be featured on Red Robin’s online Gold Medal Burger Hall of Fame. In an Olympic-inspired competition, Red Robin further challenged participants to wash it down with its Star Spangled Spritzer. According to the restaurant, only a few could complete the challenge.A Sparkly Red, White, and Blue SpritzerThe patriotic Star-Spanged Spritzer is available only for dine-in customers. It combines wild raspberry flavor with Sprite and is topped with blue cotton candy. The cotton candy disappears into the drink, creating a layered red, white, and blue drink. It’s served in a souvenir light-up cup.If you’re having trouble picturing it, Red Robin’s Instagram shows the blue cotton candy melting into the cup as it sparkles with lights. It’s pretty cool. And if that’s not cool enough, the Gold Medal Burger comes with bottomless fries. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Red Robin Gourmet Burgers (@redrobinburgers)
We’re wondering the same thing as one of the Instagram commenters who said, “That looks gorgeous! But how do you EAT it?” We’re not 100% sure, but we imagine one answer would be “very messily.” It’s intriguing enough, especially with the fun spritzer, to consider going for the gold.
