High school football highlights: Last-second field goal lifts York over Warhill, Phoebus wins easily
Sebastian Benitez kicked a 34-yard field goal as time expired as York beat Warhill 17-14 in a Bay Rivers District thriller at Wanner Stadium on Thursday night.
A.J. Wilson threw a touchdown pass to JaMarcus Tyler and Anthony Custis rushed for a score for the Falcons (2-0).
The Lions (1-2) trailed by a touchdown before Carson Strickland found Isaiah Rembert for a 12-yard score on fourth down with four minutes left. Strickland also ran for a touchdown.
The teams were scoreless at halftime.
Phoebus 42, Woodside 3: Davion Roberts scored on a 75-yard punt return and added two rushing touchdowns as the second-ranked Phantoms cruised to a win at Todd Stadium.
Noah Jefferson hauled in a 60-yard TD reception for Phoebus (2-0).
The Wolverines fell to 1-2.
Poquoson 28, Grafton 8: Cody Little rushed for two touchdowns and Eli Tyndall threw a TD pass to Khaleo Smith to lead the No. 12 Islanders (2-0) to a win at Bailey Field.
Little scored on an 8-yard run in the first quarter and added a 65-yard scamper in the second half.
The Clippers dropped to 0-2.
