LeBron James Becomes NBA Player to Score 50,000 Career Points
LeBron James adds yet another milestone to his 22 years in the NBA. In Tuesday's game against the New Orleans Pelicans, the 40-year-old Lakers superstar became the first player to ever hit 50,000 points in the regular season and postseason. He reached the 50K mark in the first shot of the game, connecting for a three-pointer from a feed off of a left wing pass from Luka Dončić with 8:34 remaining in the first quarter. After James made the shot, the Lakers public address announcer Lawrence Tanter called out the historical moment, telling the crowd, "Ladies and gentlemen, we all have just witnessed history." James went on to finish the game with 34 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists in a 136-115 win. Currently, the Lakers are second place in the Western Conference after the Oklahoma City Thunder. With this record, James cements himself as the league's all-time leading scorer with 41,871 points in the regular season and 8,162 in the playoffs. James said after the game, "It's a hell of a lot of points, and I'm super blessed to be able to put that many points up in the best league in the world with the best players in the world over my career. It's pretty special."
