A HOOTERS restaurant has shut up shop following a ‘difficult’ decision from bosses.
The establishment, located in Wichita Falls, Texas slammed its doors shut on June 23.

On Google, the restaurant is listed as “permanently closed.”
“Like many restaurants under pressure from current market conditions, Hooters has made the difficult decision to close a select number of underperforming stores,” the chain told Texoma in a statement.
“Ensuring the well-being of our staff is our priority in these rare instances.
“With new Hooters restaurants opening domestically and internationally, new Hooters frozen products launching at grocery stores, and the Hooters footprint expanding into new markets with both company and franchise locations, this brand of 41 years remains highly resilient and relevant.
“We look forward to continuing to serve our guests at home, on the go and at our restaurants here in the U.S. and around the globe.”
The U.S Sun has reached out to Hooters for comment.
NOT A HOOT
It comes after the casual chain shuttered its location in Warwick, Rhode Island – around eight miles from the state capital Providence.
A note has been left on one of the restaurant’s windows informing customers about the closure, per The Providence Journal.
The shutdown has been blamed on the collapse of the Washington Bridge.
“Due to the bridge collapse, we will be closing indefinitely,” the note said.
“First the roof… now the bridge.”
The closure comes just months after the chain’s restaurant in Lafayette, Louisiana, shuttered after 25 years.
And a candlelit vigil was held to mourn the shuttering of a Hooters restaurant in Charleston, West Virginia, in February, per The Washington Post.
The slew of closures joins dozens of other businesses across the country that are shutting down.
Restaurant closures in 2024
BOSSES at major dining chains have announced a series of restaurant closures. The U.S. Sun has compiled a list of the chain's affected.
Cracker Barrel: Stores in Medford, Oregon, Columbia, South Carolina, and Sacramento, California, have closed.
Mod Pizza: Bosses dramatically shuttered 27 shops in April, including some in the state of California.
Frisch’s Big Boy: Restaurant chiefs confirmed the closure of a restaurant in Covington, Kentucky in April.
Outback Steakhouse: The chain will shutter 41 ‘underperforming’ locations this year.
Two Bucks: Four restaurants in Ohio closed in April.
Chili’s: A restaurant in Port Arthur, Texas, has shut permanently as well as one in Irvine, California.
Friendly’s: Bosses confirmed an establishment in Ronkonkoma, Long Island will close.
Pizza Hut: A restaurant in Glen Falls, New York, closed at the end of March, followed by four in Ohio in June and 15 in Indiana.
Denny’s: Two restaurants in Boise and Nampa, Idaho, have closed.
Carl’s Jr.: The first Boise, Idaho location has closed.
In-N-Out: An Oakland location closed earlier in the year due to crime in the area.
Cheesecake Factory: The chain is set to shutter a location in Memphis, Tennessee in July.
Applebee’s: Announced the closure of between 25 and 35 locations this year.
Taco John’s: Shuttered a restaurant in Minnesota and put the building up for sale in May.
Mitchell Olsen, a marketing professor specializing in retail at the University of Notre Dame, told The U.S. Sun that these closures are partially due to inflation.
“On one hand, it’s more expensive to operate restaurants due to higher wages and food costs,” Olsen said.
“On the other hand, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to pass those higher operating expenses on to diners with ever-increasing menu prices.”
As a result, Olsen said there is a trend of diners eating out less.
“Consumers are starting to push back against the high cost of dining out by thinking twice about that appetizer or going to a restaurant in the first place,” he explained.
