Man Saved From Icy Waters In Morris County Rescue

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — Emergency responders rescued a man who fell through the ice into the Musconetcong Lake Reservoir in Netcong Borough this past weekend.Firefighters and police responded to the area near DiRenzo Park, 32 Dell Ave, Netcong, at approximately 5 p.m. on Friday after receiving a report of someone falling through the ice, according to the Netcong Fire Department.First responders successfully rescued the man, who was found without any serious injuries and pulled from the lake using a rope.During the rescue, the ice gave way beneath the responders, but Chief Raymond Bock remained with the victim, keeping him afloat. As additional rescue teams arrived with slings and ropes, Captain Jeff Jozowski and Firefighter Miguel Pardo crawled out to the victim's location, while Engineer Mike Kunkel operated the rescue tether. Once the rescue sling was secured around the victim, both Jozowski and the victim were safely pulled to shore, followed by Bock and Pardo, officials said.Stanhope-Netcong EMS arrived on the scene and immediately evaluated the victim, who was reported to be in stable condition, authorities said."Members have been conducting ice rescue training throughout the season, with our most recent advanced class held last Sunday. THIS is why — to ensure we are more than ready to provide an efficient response and successful outcome," the Netcong Fire Department said.
