No significant progress in Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody extension talks

Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody are both extension eligible as they enter the final season of their rookie deals. The deadline to get something done is Oct. 21 or they will enter restricted free agency next July. Six weeks out and there hasn’t been significant progress toward a deal in either case, league sources said.Source: New York Times

Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are proven champs. Verified. But they’re not enough for this Warriors’ roster to rejoin the Western Conference elite. The key to that is Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga finding their best selves. nbcsportsbayarea.com/nba/golden-sta… – 5:09 PM

Buddy Hield replaces Klay Thompson
Kyle Anderson replaces Dario Saric
De’Anthony Melton replaces Chris Paul
Question will be what to do with Wiggins, Kuminga, and Jackson-Davis. Scoring might be an issue at times.

More on this storyline
The Warriors’ decision-makers believe their transactional flexibility will be a major weapon in the months and weeks leading up to February’s trade deadline, team sources said. -via New York Times / September 12, 2024
The Warriors aren’t currently prepared to give Kuminga a max extension (like the five-year, $224-million deal Franz Wagner got from the Orlando Magic that will start at 25 percent of the cap) or anything that stretches too close to that $44.8 million annual salary, league sources said. There’s credible reason for Kuminga to believe he can play himself into that ballpark with another leap. -via New York Times / September 12, 2024
March expectation: Potential for an extension in the $20 million range. Current expectation: Kuminga is believed to be looking for more than that projection. It’s unclear where the Warriors stand. Other teams seem to prefer Johnson and Murphy over Kuminga—not to suggest that Kuminga doesn’t also have fans around the league. It’s one of the tougher calls on the list, but the dearth of cap room in 2025 suggests Kuminga should seek a viable compromise. An alternative may be a sign-and-trade next July if the Warriors aren’t prepared to pay him. -via Bleacher Report / August 30, 2024
The Jazz held Markkanen trade conversations with several serious suitors over the last month, including the San Antonio Spurs, Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors. The Warriors made the most aggressive offer, centered around Moses Moody, multiple first-round picks, pick swaps and second-rounders, team sources from both sides said. Utah wanted Brandin Podziemski in any theoretical deal. The Warriors were protective of Podziemski in the Markkanen conversation and a few other leaguewide trade proposals this summer, league sources said. -via New York Times / August 6, 2024
