JYP Entertainment’s girl group Nmixx recently performed at Shinhan University, where the K-pop act encountered a technical mishap on the stage. Later, the K-pop act’s agency, SQU4D, released a statement clearing up the misunderstanding regarding the ‘staged’ technical mishap.
Nmixx debuted on February 22, 2022, with the single album Ad Mare. Since then, the JYP K-pop group has attracted praise for its live vocals and admirable stage performances. Recently, a fourth-generation girl group attracted criticism for lacking live vocals. But Nmixx’s performance at Shinhan University proved they could manage any situation without worrying about background filler sounds.
Nmixx’s SQU4D explains why a malfunction was staged at university event
Nmixx recently performed “Dice” at the Shinhan University festival. Towards the end of the performance, the background sound stopped working, but the girl group performed with ease, entertaining the fans with their live vocals. After the performance ended, rumors emerged that the agency staged the technical mishap at the Shinhan University stage.
Two days later, Nmixx’s agency, SQU4D, came forward with a statement explaining the technical mishap, saying it was staged, but the girls were unaware of it. SQU4D noted: “To heat the show’s atmosphere, we agreed with the university to stage a malfunction with the backtrack as an event. However, to create a natural setting, we did not inform the NMIXX members beforehand.”
The label apologized for causing a controversy. They added, “We apologize for the discomfort guests and fans felt during this performance and will work hard so that this will not happen again in the future. Thank you to everyone who supported the group at the festival, and we apologize once again.”

The seven-track EP sold over 780,429 copies within a week of its release, charting at number 1 on South Korea’s Circle Album Chart. It also showed global impact by ranking number one on the US World Chart and 171 on the Billboard 200.
