“It’s cool as f**k”: Ralph Ineson Comes Clean About His Marvel Knowledge After Galactus Casting, Gives Honest Verdict on Fantastic Four Script
Actor Ralph Ineson will be playing Galactus in the upcoming MCU film The Fantastic Four. The British actor is known for his unique, deep voice and has featured in films such as The Witch, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. The actor also appeared as Dagmer Cleftjaw in Game of Thrones.
While he did not reveal much about the way the upcoming film would portray the world-devouring villain, Ineson mentioned in an interview recently that he had read the script and was extremely impressed. The character will be seen in live-action for the second time, though in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Galactus was only depicted as a cosmic cloud.

After being messed up twice, the Marvel characters Fantastic Four returned to the comic book and production company after Disney acquired Fox Studios, allowing the IP to finally get its MCU debut. The film was announced in 2019 and cast actors Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn in lead roles earlier this year.

While actress Julia Garner was confirmed to play a version of the Silver Surfer in The Fantastic Four, British actor Ralph Ineson was cast as Galactus in the film. Ineson had already appeared in the MCU in a cameo in the Guardians of the Galaxy. However, he had a very small role as a Ravager pilot.

Though filming was yet to begin for The Fantastic Four, Ineson recently dropped his comments on the script. He said to The Movie Dweeb,
[The script] is great. I’m not someone who knows the whole lore of Marvel. My son is an expert. He’s been schooling me for the last couple of months…I got the part, I read the script and I was like, ‘It’s cool as f*ck.’ And now, the more I understand about the universe and how it all fits together, I’m like, ‘Yeah, that’s really cool as f*ck’.
The actor also mentioned that he was generally excited to be a part of the Marvel world and experienced firsthand how secretive and secure the project was.

Ralph Ineson’s appearance in The Fantastic Four will not be the first instance of Galactus in live-action. The iconic villain appeared in the mid-2000s, Tim Story’s iteration of the Fantastic Four. The world-eating antagonist has a short appearance in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. However, the film only depicts him as a cosmic cloud who controls the Silver Surfer.

Ineson confirmed that the villain would at least have his iconic helmet in the film and would have a proper appearance, unlike the predecessor. Talking about whether he would get to steal the iconic prop from the set and keep it next to his The Green Knight helmet, he said,
I can’t mount it like a deer’s head like I did with The Green Knight. I’d need some fancy box for that. I’m sure you’re not allowed to take props away from the set on these things…The security on these jobs is absolutely incredible…I wouldn’t be able to walk out with any props…It is hard to smuggle my huge helmet under my shirt.
While Galactus was barely seen in the previous film, the makers reportedly intended to include him in a sequel and even had a slight resemblance to the iconic character’s comic book look in the cloud to tease his eventual appearance. However, the threequel was canceled.
The Fantastic Four is set to release in theaters on July 25, 2025.
