Mass. man indicted after prosecutors say he filed false pandemic unemployment
A 41-year-old man from Haverhill was indicted Thursday after prosecutors said he filed a fraudulent Pandemic Unemployment Assistance claim for a man living in Brazil who has since been charged in connection with migrant smuggling.Julio Roncaly Morais was charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, according to a press release from the Department of Justice. He will appear in federal court in Boston at a later date.
