OU quick-hit LIVE viewing notes, now Week 3 preseason camp
Not going to pretend there was a lot to learn from the LIVE viewing of OU practice Tuesday morning. However, SoonerScoop was out there in full force.
The 20-minute period was stretching, field goals, punt returning and kickoffs and that wrapped up everything LIVE for practice No. 10 from the media side.
OU news and notes
*Sights & Sounds from SoonerScoop’s Eddie Radosevich.
*Start with the fact cornerback Gentry Williams was out there. Williams injured his shoulder during Friday’s scrimmage, per multiple reports (including SoonerScoop). However, Williams was going through stretching and warmups. That will obviously be something to watch.
*Key guys not practicing? Wide receivers Jayden Gibson and Nic Anderson, tight end Kade McIntyre and linebacker Dasan McCullough. For the second week in a row, McCullough remained in the boot and scooter. Gibson suffered a serious knee injury last week. We are expected to talk with head coach Brent Venables on Tuesday afternoon to get a full update on where things stand across the board with the injury department.
*It was safety Peyton Bowen who broke the team down to finish stretching. His message? This is the week where you start separating. It’s hot, crazy hot this week, but you keep working and separate here to set you up for November, etc.
*Watching field goals, and Zach Schmit continues to be an incredible practice kicker. We did see him nail about a 55-yarder. The key, obviously, is those practice kicks need to start translating to the game. The goal of Schmit and first-year special teams coach Doug Deakin.
*Not sure if these are the true punt returners, but Andrel Anthony, Jacob Jordan, Chapman McKown and Zion Ragins were the guys handling those duties, separate from the rest of the team.
*Editor’s note: Much more coming to SoonerScoop this afternoon. Not only is Venables expected, but so are selected players. It will be a busy afternoon.
