Oxford Visitors Bureau: Ole Miss hosting several flip targets, blue chip prospects
The Ole Miss football staff is set to host multiple four-stars this weekend, including a few notable flip targets.
This weekend’s list includes a few longtime targets at wide receiver, linebacker and offensive line. There are also a few notable secondary prospects in town. With 10 commitments and the No. 15 recruiting class on the On3 Industry Team Recruiting Rankings, this weekend could be a turning point for the Rebels and some of the top targets on Lane Kiffin‘s board.
As the week begins, here’s a look at the eight prospects who are expected to make Ole Miss official visits this weekend, which are set to begin June 6 and wrap up June 9.
4-star Elijah Melendez
School: Osceola (Fla.) HighOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 169Status: Committed to Miami
Melendez makes his return to Ole Miss after visiting earlier this year. Running backs coach Kevin Smith and defensive coordinator Pete Golding knocked the last visit out of the park. This weekend, the Rebels hope to make a move on the Hurricanes and inch closer towards a flip. Melendez has been very receptive despite his commitment to Miami. He just visited Auburn and will now see Ole Miss. Sources feel good about Ole Miss’ chances to get it done.

4-star Winston Watkins
School: Fort Myers (Fla.) First Baptist AcademyOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 177Status: Not committed
Ole Miss may not be the RPM leader, but the Rebels are in a great spot here. Kiffin is pitching Watkins as being his next Elijah Moore-type slot receiver. And he is listening. I am getting closer and closer to entering an RPM pick here. This weekend will be telling where Ole Miss stands. With this said, Watkins tells me he still plans on waiting until national signing day.

4-star Jaylan Morgan
School: Murfreesboro (Tenn.) RockvaleOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 250Status: Not committed
One of the newer names on Ole Miss’ radar, Morgan has seen his recruitment really take off this spring. He told On3’s Corey Bender over the weekend Florida, Ole Miss and Georgia are the trio standing out right now. The Rebels have had success in Middle Tennessee and are looking to make a move with Morgan this weekend. The in-state Volunteers seem to be the biggest competition here. Special teams coordinator Jake Schoonover has done a great job in Tennessee, as of late.

4-star Mario Nash
School: De Kalb (Miss.) Kemper CountyOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 282Status: Not committed
Nash continues to keep everyone guessing. The Rebels are looking to make a move this weekend, though. The 6-foot-5, 270 pound prospect is a major target for offensive line coach John Garrison and the intrigue to stay home is a hot button topic with Nash. Mississippi State has the early edge and Clemson impressed the four-star last weekend. Could be a visit bump, but it seems Dabo Swinney and the Tigers made a big move.

4-star Carson Lawrence
School: Chattanooga (Tenn.) McCallie SchoolOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 294Status: Committed to Vanderbilt
Lawrence is another prospect from Tennessee who is starting to see his star shine a little brighter this cycle. The 6-foot-2, 185 pounder committed to the Commodores last summer, but has since picked up heavy interest from Michigan, Miami and Ole Miss. After this weekend in Oxford, he will OV to Virginia Tech and Vanderbilt. Schoonover and Smith are tag-teaming this recruitment. McCallie School is one of the top programs in the southeast.

4-star Damola Ajidahun
School: Duluth (Ga.) HighOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 355Status: Not committed
Ole Miss currently leads for Ajidahun, per the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, at 48.5 percent. Georgia (28.8 percent) and Florida (12.9 percent) are right there with the Rebels. A new name on the radar, the massive offensive tackle is sure to hear a lot from Garrison this weekend. He will also get a chance to meet and talk with some of the current linemen at Ole Miss. Georgia always lingers with Georgia prospects, but it seems the Rebels have his attention.

3-star Mike Tyler
School: Columbia (S.C.) Hammond SchoolOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 640Status: Not committed
New Ole Miss tight ends coach Joe Cox hit the ground running when he was hired earlier this year. Tyler was one of his first prospects to touch base with. The 6-foot-4, 220 pound recruit will be tough to pluck away from the hometown Gamecocks, but Cox and Kelvin Bolden will take a swing this weekend. Tyler had 33 receptions for 543 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior.

3-star WR Dejerrian Miller
School: East Saint Louis (Ill.) Cardinal Ritter College PrepOn3 Industry Ranking: No. 407Status: Not committed
New wide receivers coach George McDonald quickly offered Miller after starting the gig for Kiffin. After the offer and in-depth conversations began, the 6-foot-3, 190 pounder quickly got an official visit on the books. After this weekend’s trip to Oxford, Miller will OV to Illinois, Tennessee and Kentucky. Sources around this recruitment say the Rebels lead.
