New York Mets star Francisco Lindor bizarrely spoke with his wife after being mic'd up during their win against the LA Dodgers - and MLB fans are divided over the strange moment.
In the second inning of Sunday night's game at Citi Field, Lindor wore a microphone while out in the field as part of a special segment for ESPN's live broadcast - something which is becoming the norm in modern-day baseball.
However, while players typically field questions from commentators over the mic, the Puerto Rican shortstop was instead grilled by his wife Katia, who was also wearing one in the stands while holding their newborn baby boy.
Katia quizzed her husband on a number of non-baseball topics - including changing diapers, their date nights together and an upcoming trip to Paris Fashion week - while he multi-tasked with his fielding duties against the Dodgers.
The unusual exchange lasted just over five minutes before Francisco removed his mic and carried on with the game.
And after watching him converse with his wife on the field, some fans took to social media to hit out at the ESPN segment.

One user commented: 'Maybe I’m being a curmudgeon but Lindor being mic’d up mid game with his wife and the broadcast booth is absolutely INSANE to me.'
'It’s preposterous,' another fan replied. 'This is why fans of other sports make fun of baseball.'
'Tell me why are ESPN announcers distracting players with interviews that have nothing to do with baseball,' said a third. 'I mean no disrespect to katia lindor but this is ridiculous.'
While one simply put: 'I cannot express how little I care about Lindor changing diapers.'
Not everyone was critical of Katia's mic'd-up moment, nevertheless, with other viewers thoroughly enjoying watching an in-game MLB player holding down such a normal conversation.
'That was absolutely beautiful,' one user gushed.
Another posted: 'They're so cute. I love our shortstop and his family'.

While a third concluded: 'Francisco Lindor chatting with his wife Katia mid game will be the greatest thing in sports you will see all year'.
Francisco and Katia, who have two daughters and a son together, tied the knot in December 2021 after welcoming their first child a year earlier.
Eldest daughter Kalina was born in November 2020, before youngest girl Amapola Chloe followed in June 2023. Katia then gave birth to a baby boy, Koa Amani, in March of this year.
Lindor and the Mets went on to seal a 3-1 victory over the world champion Dodgers on Sunday night, keeping them second in the National League East with a 32-21 record.
