VIRGINIA BEACH — Police are investigating after officers shot at an armed suspect in the early morning hours Tuesday.
According to Virginia Beach police, officers responded to the scene at 3:42 a.m. for reports of shots fired on Trace Court. When they arrived, a spokesperson for the department said responding officers heard more shots from the end of the street.
Public information officer Jody Saunders said officers were “confronted with an armed individual.” Officers “discharged their weapons,” but no injuries were reported. Saunders said the person, who has not been identified, is in custody. All lanes of Bonney Road from Lynn Shores Drive to Thalia Trace Drive are closed for the investigation.
