The Umbrella Academy Season 4 is now out, but fans are wondering what happened to Sloane Hargreeves. The six episodes of the final season do not even address the character’s fate. Hence, fans’ concerns are not unwarranted, considering how the third season ended with a timeline reset and the creation of a new one. Luther, who died in the old timeline minutes before its erasure, was resurrected. But Sloane, who remained alive in the old timeline, was nowhere to be seen.

Is Sloane dead or alive in The Umbrella Academy Season 4?
Sloane was erased from existence in The Umbrella Academy Season 4, following the creation of the new timeline. However, the character’s ultimate fate is uncertain.
This is because the fourth and final season ended without exploring a storyline involving Sloane’s existence in the new timeline. According to showrunner Steve Blackman in an interview with TVLine, Sloane’s exclusion from Season 4 was due to logistics. Here, he mentioned that he had a Sloane-Luther storyline in the cards but was unable to include it.
Blackman said, “I wanted Sloane to be alive, just not remembering Luther, and him trying to get her to love him again. For logistical reasons, we just couldn’t make it work. We just couldn’t make it happen.” In another conversation with Tudum, he also shared that they had deliberately left Sloane’s fate uncertain as Season 3 ended and that she could still be alive.
“I think Sloane exists in the timeline, but she has never found Luther, and Luther never found her…If you ask me what I think, I think she’s somewhere out there. But she may not remember anything, and she may be so far away from Luther that she can’t get to him,” stated Blackman. Besides, he stated that the timeline reset in Season 3 could have been incomplete, resulting in Sloane not existing.
However, Sloane Hargreeves does get a passing mention in The Umbrella Academy Season 4 Episode 1. This happens when Luther and Diego are having a conversation about the latter’s stress from his marriage to Lila and having three children with her.
All four seasons of The Umbrella Academy are currently streaming on Netflix.
