Kirby Smart reveals Roderick Robinson had surgery, provides timeline for return
Georgia head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on running back Roderick Robinson during his press conference on Monday.
According to Smart, Robinson is set to miss some time after undergoing toe surgery recently.

“[Roderick Robinson’s] toe is still an issue for him. … Rod did have surgery on his toe,” Kirby Smart said.
Robinson was the third-leading rusher for Georgia last season as a true freshman. In five games he recorded 196 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Smart added that he doesn’t have an exact timetable for Robinson’s return.
“Not real sure. Probably be week-to-week. Not sure how long it’ll take in terms of the surgery,” Smart said.
Roderick Robinson signed with Georgia after being ranked as a four-star running back and the No. 152 overall player in the country in the class of 2023, per the On3 Industry rankings.
He finished his freshman season strong, carrying the ball seven times for 70 yards in a bowl win over Florida State. The hope was that he would pick up where he left off this season. However, he will now have to wait to contribute for the Bulldogs.
Despite the injury to Roderick Robinson, Kirby Smart still feels good about the running backs the Bulldogs have. However, he admits there are some unknowns heading into the season opener against Clemson.
“Any time you go into a new season you’re like, ‘What do I have?’ You don’t really know what you have. That’s why it’s so critical in our spring to go out and play our spring game like it’s a game, because it’s the first version of your new self,” Smart said. “And then you go through the scrimmages, which we’ve had two, and you try to figure out the best version of yourself in those scrimmages, because those are preseason games in NFL terms. And I feel really comfortable with where our backfield is in those games and doing a good job.
“At Georgia we don’t say ‘OK, let’s start all over.’ There’s these guys that have been in our program that have been picking up stunts, blitzes that our defense runs. We do two-spot walk-throughs where they’re getting to pick things up. So there’s a lot of guys that have had a lot of reps doing those things that hopefully have a great game Saturday.”
