Bay Area's Iconic Flintstone House to Host Michelin-Starred 'Stoneage Omakase' Pop-Up Sushi Experience
Bay Area sushi aficionados are in for a unique dining experience, replete with caveman charm and Michelin-starred sushi, as the 'Flintstone House' in Hillsborough prepares to host Stoneage Omakase starting July 12. The pop-up sushi spot offers an intimate setting within the iconic, quirky home, presenting patrons with an exclusive 15-course, $230 omakase menu by Chef Masa Sasaki, known for his craft at the erstwhile Maruya and Sasaki, both recognized by Michelin, though now closed. The San Francisco Chronicle reported that this is the famed Flintstone House's first public dining foray since being sold in 2018 for $2.8 million, though it was briefly rented out on Airbnb back in 2016.

The exclusive dining room is described as cave-like, set within the structure famed for its fantastical design by Bay Area architect William Nicholson from the 1970s, before diners enjoy their meal they are offered a tour that includes the property's vibrant dinosaur statues which were, not too long ago, at the center of a lawsuit between the current owner and the City of Hillsborough. According to posts on Stoneage Omakase's Instagram, the menu tantalizes with offerings like kurodai nigiri and marinated akami zuke.
