New Police Officer Takes Oath In Horsham

HORSHAM TOWNSHIP, PA —Delaney Richardson looked like she was undercover.As she attended the township's annual Blue Light Ceremony honoring Montgomery County's fallen police officers in December, Richardson kept a low profile.She shadowed Detective Kimberly Ngo, who is the handler for K9 Mac, as Richardson was just wrapping up training and hoping to officially join the police force just after the new year.Last Monday night, Richardson got her wish.At the recent Horsham Township Council meeting, Richardson was sworn in as the newest officer to join the Horsham Township Police Department.District Judge Todd Stephens administered the oath in the swearing-in ceremony, while Police Chief Scott Fida shared Richardson's background.Richardson is a graduate of Methacton High School and West Chester University. She attended the Montgomery County Police Academy.She sat with Patch following the Blue Light ceremony and shared some of her training and her background. Richardson talked about the equipment she has to carry on her person as a police officer with the weight an adjustment for the petite police officer.She also said she carries a 9mm Glock and is a "pretty good shot."
