Screenwriter and director Scott Spiegel has died at age 67.
Known for his imprint on the horror film genre, the news of his death was announced by friends on social media.
Actor and filmmaker Bruce Campbell took to X on Sunday to share a Facebook post originally shared by director Robert Kurtzman.
It read, 'RIP to our friend and fellow monster lover... Scotty Spiegel, one of the funniest people I've known.'
He added, 'We all met on the set of Evil Dead 2, which he wrote, and became instant friends.'
Campbell piggybacked off the post and mentioned Spiegel's Michigan roots as he added, 'This is a big personal loss. Scott Spiegel was a huge part of my formative years back in Michigan.'
