Late buzz around 4-star EDGE Bryce Davis as he closes on his decision
Greensboro (N.C.) Grimsley four-star EDGE Bryce Davis is set to announce his commitment on July 20 at 12pm ET. The No. 71 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking took official visits to Clemson, Duke, Georgia and South Carolina.
Coming off the official visits, the buzz had picked up around the Tigers. Dabo Swinney and the ACC program did a great job when they hosted Davis in Death Valley early in June.
Heading into the official visits, Georgia had been the favorite. They looked to be Clemson’s biggest competition, but late in this race, Duke has picked up some buzz around it. Since Manny Diaz took over in Durham (N.C.), the Blue Devils have been a top three program on Davis’ list.
When it looked like it was down to Clemson and Georgia the last few weeks, On3 has learned that there has been some strong communication between Duke and Davis as well. Harland Bower didn’t give up on the No. 8 EDGE in the country and there is some buzz that, that could pay off on Saturday.
Clemson is the team to beat according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, but I am keeping a close eye on the Duke Blue Devils as the decision gets closer. They are picking up some late momentum.
When Davis spoke earlier this month about his upcoming decision, he said, “It will come down to my gut, but the family atmosphere, the scheme and the education all factor into it. My mom is an educator and my dad is a police officer in the Army, so education is big and just having that home feeling is something I am thinking a lot about.”
