1 dead, 1 hurt in East Providence crash involving city truck
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway into a deadly crash in East Providence Thursday afternoon.
Officers were called to Veterans Memorial Parkway around 2 p.m. following reports of a crash that involved a city truck.
Investigators believe an oncoming SUV crossed over the double yellow lines and into the truck.
The woman behind the wheel of the SUV was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to police.
Police said a passenger in the city truck was also brought to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. The driver of the city truck was not injured in the crash.
The exact cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
