Snoop Dogg, best known for his iconic music, big brand partnerships, acting and social posts tried his hand at track and field during the US Olympic trials in Eugene, Oregon on Monday.
Rocking a tracksuit in American flag colors and a Team USA shirt honoring the late Kobe Bryant, Snoop competed in a 200-meter exhibition race against former Olympic medalist Ato Boldon from Trinidad and two-time NCAA outdoor 200m champion Wallace Spearmon.
Although Snoop finished last, he completed the race in a commendable 34.44 seconds. Reflecting on his performance, he said, “34.44 for a 52-year-old? Ain’t bad,” before posing proudly with his time.
ICYMI, Snoop is set to travel to Paris as a Special Correspondent for NBC’s primetime coverage of the Olympic Games, working alongside host Mike Tirico. During the trials, he offered his unique perspective on the events, particularly the men’s 3000m steeplechase.
Back trackside for NBC’s broadcast, Snoop described the race, saying, “What we’re about to see right now is they’re about to get to dipping, gripping, riding, slipping and hopefully not sliding.” He was particularly surprised by the technique of jumping off hurdles, exclaiming, “Oh he’s jumping on top of the hurdle. You can do that?! That was a cold trick right there. I like that one. Went off the tippy-top.”
Naturally, NBC highlighted Snoop’s commentary on their X account, calling it “ELECTRIC” and “the content we never knew we needed.”
Get this, with the US trials in full swing, athletes like Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles have already secured their spots for the upcoming Games. Snoop summed up his experience on his X account, writing, “This wknd was fun … much respect to all tha world class athletes … see ya’ll in Paris.”
