Conner Smith Was Involved In A Fatal Traffic Accident In Nashville
Smith is a country singer whose career took off when his song, “Hate Alabama,” went viral on TikTok. This saw him land a deal with Big Machine Records’ Valory label.
Over the years, he has also become known through a few other singles. This includes “Creek Will Rise” and “Roulette on the Heart,” the latter of which features Hailey Whitters.

According to TMZ, Smith has recently been charged over a fatal traffic accident in Nashville. During the incident, Smith was reportedly driving a truck that killed a woman in a crosswalk.
Smith was charged with a misdemeanor offense, and not a felony, over the incident. The singer’s attorney, Worrick G. Robinson IV, also confirmed with the publication that a misdemeanor state citation had been issued by the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.
In a statement, Robinson shared, “Conner is incredibly grateful to the MNPD for their time and efforts to carefully investigate this tragic accident and has continued to cooperate at all times.”
Sources Have Touched On What Is Being Done To Help Prevent Other Similar Accidents In The Future
Previously, it had been reported that Smith was behind the wheel of a Chevrolet Silverado during the altercation. The victim was identified as Dorothy Dobbins.
At the time of the incident, Dobbins had been crossing a street within a marked crosswalk. She was rushed to Vanderbilt Medical Center but ultimately didn’t survive. Dobbins was 77 at the time of her death.

According to the publication, sources shared that Smith was charged with a misdemeanor traffic offense. The was listed as “failure to yield resulting in a fatality.” This misdemeanor offense notably underscores a lack of criminal intent.
Sources also claimed that Smith was not under the influence or distracted by his phone during the time of the crash. At the time, officers also claimed that he showed no signs of impairment following the incident. The original belief was that he failed to yield.
Sources have also claimed that Smith has been encouraged by Nashville’s efforts to improve safety at the crosswalk where the incident took place. Since the altercation, multiple signs have been installed. A tree, that blocked the view of the crosswalk, has also since been removed.
The sources also claimed that Smith has shown respect for the efforts made to spread safety awareness in the area, especially highlighting the work of Dobbins’ family. According to Smith’s attorney, “His thoughts remain with Ms. Dobbins’ family, and he remains committed to honoring her memory with compassion by supporting efforts to improve pedestrian safety and help prevent future tragedies.”
