Man Wounded in Shooting at CTA Orange Line Station in Bridgeport, No Suspect in Custody
A man sustained a foot injury following a shooting incident at the Chicago Transit Authority’s (CTA) Orange Line station in Bridgeport on Wednesday afternoon. CBS News Chicago reports that at the Halsted stop, around 12:20 p.m., two men engaged in a conflict that escalated, resulting in a 44-year-old man being shot during the altercation.
According to Fox 32 Chicago, detailing the response from CTA officials who worked to accommodate affected passengers. Shuttle buses were provided until 1:45 p.m. to aid in connecting riders from Ashland to State and Lake. Despite the normalization of services, the CTA has advised commuters to allow for extra travel time and to consider using alternative bus routes or other lines.
While the CTA’s website confirmed the resumption of services with expected residual delays, there have been no additional details released about the circumstances surrounding the shooting, as per Fox 32 Chicago. The case remains open as detectives search for more information to lead to an arrest in the matter.
