A minor league hockey player has been suspended for 10 games after flying into a referee and sending him crashing into the boards during a game last week.
Winger Adam Beckman, who plays for the New York Islanders' AHL affiliate team Bridgeport, has received the lengthy ban for 'physical abuse of an official' following the incident on April 5.
Despite hitting the boards at speed, the ref did not sustain any injuries and was able to get back to his feet and continue with the game.
Beckman also appeared apologetic after accidentally colliding with him on the ice.
However, the 23-year-old will now miss the Islanders' last five AHL fixtures this season and the first five games of the next campaign after receiving the ban.
It is unclear which team that will be with, nevertheless, as he is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

Beckman joined the Islanders organization earlier this year after being traded by the New Jersey Devils.
He has scored four goals and seven points in 12 games since making the move, helping Bridgeport, who sit bottom of the Atlantic Division.
After being selected in the third round of the 2019 draft by the Wild, Beckman has made 23 appearances in the NHL.
All of those appearances came with Minnesota, who eventually traded him to New Jersey last year.
Beckman's 'physical abuse' of the referee last week was not the worst treatment of an official seen on the ice in recent weeks.
Earlier this week, former NHL forward Brendan Lemieux was suspended for punching a ref while brawling with an opponent during a game in Switzerland.
